Weigh in on how Bethlehem should be decked for the holidays

Want to see how Bethlehem could be decked out for the holidays? The proposed lighting and decor scheme will be unveiled 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Town Hall, 10 E. Church Street.Among the renderings is a traditionally decorated Main Street. The rendering shows wreaths sparkling with white lights decorating the ornamental lampposts and the Bethlehem star inset on a larger wreath strung across Main Street. More designs are expected to be released at the meeting. The renderings are the result of a public meeting and several targeted meetings led by the city’s consultants, David Weiner Design of New York.“The City relies on a robust Christmas season to support our small businesses and to provide a terrific experience for our residents,” Mayor Robert J. Donchez said in a statement. “The enhancement of our decor program is a necessary step in making sure Bethlehem remains a destination for the holiday season.”The $30,000 decor plan is designed to be phased in over years to fully implement, depending on the cost and scope of the improvements. Once the plan is agreed upon, the next major step would be raising money for those improvements.
