Update: Slatington device determined to be animal repeller, area reopened

A device found in a Slatington alley this morning was not an explosive but an animal repeller, officials determined. The Allentown bomb squad and federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms were summoned to the borough at 5 a.m. when a resident of Fairmount Alley spotted the device — a 6-inch-square…
