The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has closed three Route 248 bridges in Northampton County for replacement work.Two of the bridges are in Moore Township. One is over Hokendauqua Creek and the other is over a tributary to the creek.Work on these two bridges should start in June and be completed by the end of this year, according to PennDOT.The third bridge is over the Monocacy Creek’s East Branch in Upper Nazareth Township. Work there is expected to start early next year and be done in September 2020.Clearwater Construction, Inc., of Mercer is the general contractor on the $3,513,000 project.Motorists can check www.511PA.com for travel conditions, delays, weather forecasts and other information.Measuring between 33 feet long and 45.5 feet wide, the three single-span concrete bridges date back to the 1920s.Morning Call reporter Andrew Scott can be reached at (610) 820-6508 or ascott@mcall.com.
