The Slate Belt is poised to be the Lehigh Valley’s hot new growth area. Driven by development along the Route 33 corridor and less developable land in the rest of the Lehigh Valley, people will start heading north to the Slate Belt where the population is expected to increase by 40 percent over the next 20 years, says the 106-page report prepared by the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission.
