Northampton County Announces Gracedale Administrator Resignation, Names Acting Successor

October 30, 2026 — Northampton County, Pennsylvania. Northampton County has announced a leadership change at Gracedale Nursing Home, the county-operated long-term care facility in Upper Nazareth Township. Nursing Home Administrator Michelle Morton has submitted her resignation, effective November 12, 2026, according to an official county announcement dated October 26.

Acting administrator named

The county says Deputy Nursing Home Administrator Christina Casey, BSN, RN, NHA, CNDLTC, will serve as acting administrator after Morton’s departure. Officials say they will search for a permanent replacement.

County Executive Tara Zrinski described the change as an opportunity to reevaluate leadership as the county transitions to its Continuum of Care approach. Tom Carson, director of Continuum of Care, said the priority is maintaining continuity of resident care while supporting employees and addressing operational challenges.

Why this matters to northern Northampton County

Gracedale provides long-term care to residents from across Northampton County, including families in and around Walnutport. Changes in facility leadership can raise questions about staffing, communication and care continuity. The county says its acting-administrator appointment is intended to provide operational continuity during the search.

The county’s official announcement does not identify a permanent successor or a timetable for completing the search. Residents and families should direct individual care questions to the facility and monitor county announcements for further updates.
