Lifelong Allentonian born during 1918 pandemic survives COVID-19 and celebrates 102nd birthday

Ruth Ida Bower came into the world in the throws of a pandemic in 1918. She got the coronavirus at the age of 101. Then last Wednesday, at Cedarbrook nursing home in South Whitehall Township, she turned 102 years old, symptom-free.
