Allentown City Council on Wednesday confirmed Efrain ‘Freddie’ Agosto Jr. as the city’s new fire chief. A Puerto Rico native who grew up in the city’s Cumberland Gardens public housing complex and graduated from Dieruff High School, Agosto is thought to be the city’s first Hispanic department head.
