Coronavirus shutdown lures many to the outdoors, including the Appalachian Trail: ‘It’s kind of social distancing’

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, students, teachers, service workers and others have escaped to Appalachian Trail access points, leaving behind a newly confined civilization, if only for a few hours. In a time of social distancing, some see heading to the hills as a compromise of sorts.
