Greg Edwards, a pastor and prominent community leader in Allentown, withdrew his name from consideration Wednesday for a seat on the authority overseeing the downtown Neighborhood Improvement Zone. Edwards claimed state Sen. Pat Browne and state Rep. Peter Schweyer threatened to withhold state funding from the city if Mayor Ray O’Connell nominated him. They refute the accusation.
