The more than $1 million spent from the First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem’s endowment fund during the congregational schism between 2016 and 2017 accounted for about 25% of the total fund. An auditor for the church called the transactions “questionable” considering that normally only about 4% is spent from those coffers in one year. Church leaders are seeking answers from congregants who’ve left to form a new congregation.
